Jonathan Mandelbaum, M.D.

Dr. Jonathan Mandlebaum, bariatric surgeon at the St. Francis Medical & Surgical Weight Loss Center, performs gastric bypass bariatic surgery.Jonathan Mandelbaum, M.D., is a board-certified surgeon with Indy Southside Surgical.

He received his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Indiana University. Dr. Mandelbaum completed his surgical residency and internship at The Ohio State University Hospitals.

He is a member of the American Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, Marion County Medical Association, Society Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, American Society of General Surgeons and American Society for Bariatric Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Mandelbaum was awarded the Academic Achievement Award from Indiana University School of Medicine, and the Edwin H. Ellison Memorial Award for outstanding ability in clinical and academic endeavors from The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

He previously served for 12 years on the board of directors for Franklin Township Foundation and currently serves on the board of directors for the St. Francis Hospital Foundation. He is chairman of the department of Surgery and co-director of Bariatric Surgical Services at St. Francis Hospital.

Since 2000, Dr. Mandelbaum has actively participated in annual medical mission trips.

Dr. Mandelbaum was named to Indianapolis Monthly magazine's “Top Doctor's” list for surgery in 2009.

His research has been published in Brain Research Bulletin, Journal of Neurological Sciences, Vascular Surgery, Clinical Research, Diabetes and JPEN.
