Screening Guidelines for Women

Health Screenings

Breast Screening

Begin at age 40 for a baseline mammogram, or earlier if family history/risk factors exist

Colorectal Screening

Begin at age 50 if no family history of colon cancer, earlier if family history/risk factors exist

Skin Cancer Screening

1x per year

Oral Cancer Screening

1x per year

Hypertension Screening (Blood Pressure)

2x per year

Cholesterol Screening

1x per year

Diabetes Screening (Blood

Glucose Levels)

1x per year
2x per year if you have a family history of diabetes

Bone Density Screening

1x per year beginning at age 40

Vascular Screening

Every two years over age 40
Annually if you have a family history of stroke

Doctor Examinations

Dental

1-2 times annually

Physical Exam

1x per year

Rectal Exam

Every five years

Pap Smear

Annually after age 18

Mammogram

Annually after age 40

Begin mammograms at age 35 if you have a family history of breast cancer

Vision

Once every two years

Self Exams
