Physicians Medical Mission Fund

The St. Francis Physicians Medical Mission Fund was created in 2004 by a group of St. Francis physicians to help recognize individuals wishing to use their health care skills to assist some of the world’s neediest people –  the poor, the disabled and the aged – through local and international medical outreach.

The Physicians Medical Mission Fund philosophically supports a ministry that not only restores and preserves health but also nurtures and comforts patients and their loved ones with compassion, providing medical, emotional and spiritual care.

Grants are awarded to health care professionals affiliated with St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers. The annual number of grants awarded depends on the financial activity of the fund’s endowment.

Financial assistance may be used for:

  • travel
  • medicines
  • supplies
  • other related expenses.

Grants are reviewed and awarded two times per year. Applications must be completed and submitted to the St. Francis Healthcare Foundation by May 1 and Nov. 1. The Physician Medical Mission Committee reviews the applications and selects the recipients.
