• St. Francis offers strong inpatient and ambulatory experiences. You will see a wide variety of patient cases at the Family Medicine Center, which receives more than 18,000 clinic visits each year.
• St. Francis is oriented to the practice of comprehensive family medicine in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Residents receive a strong obstetrical experience, including 50 or more unassisted deliveries during their rotation. Intensive and non-intensive OB tracks are available.
• The sports medicine track includes first-hand training as team physicians for area schools.
• A family medicine/rural/underserved training rotation enhances your exposure to a variety of family medicine settings.
• St. Francis offers the International Medicine Experience—Guatemala as an elective experience. Residents are free to develop their own international experiences as well.
• In 1982, St. Francis became the first family medicine residency program in Indiana to have a meaningful, structured and operational research program. The residency has received many regional research awards. Residents and faculty have been published in a variety of journals.
• The residency values and family life and the personal as well as professional growth of its residents.
• As further evidence to St. Francis Hospital's commitment to education, the Family Medicine Clinic is the first clinical site to implement EPIC electronic medical records (EMRs).
