Students considering a career in nursing
If you're considering a career in nursing or other health care field, you can gain experience in a hospital environment by volunteering or by applying for a variety of positions. You must be 16 years old to work for St. Francis. Learn about options available for you.
Current Nursing Students
If you have completed your first semester of clinicals, you can apply to become a nurse associate at St. Francis.
To apply to be a nurse associate, please complete an online application. You need only complete one application for the entire hospital; applications are circulated to managers with openings.

Weekend Option Program for Nursing Students
Work part-time and receive full-time benefits! Nursing students who work the weekend option (two 12-hour shifts on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays) receive the same benefits as our full-time employees. Apply for a position with "WEO" to be considered for this program.
Benefits for New Nursing Hires
In addition to other benefits for employees, new nurses at St. Francis receive these benefits:
- Tuition assistance: Upon signing on with St. Francis for two years (4,160 hours), nurses may receive $2,500 in tuition assistance (RNs) or $3,750 for BSNs.
- Child care discounted at several area providers.
